See title... my sim card is activated, but I have no use for the phone right now (but will in around half a year down the road). If I let the balance deplete and my account is at $0, how long will the sim card last before the number is deactivated?

I believe it is 30 days. There is no advantage to this. When you put in money, Speakout takes out the system access fee in arrears. Probably best to put in the $25 and have your number on hold for a year.
