I have a 416 exchange on my SO phone and just moved to Mississauga where the exchange is 905. Do I have to change my phone number in order for my calls to be considered "local"? Most if not all of the calls I will be placing will be to the 416 exchange.
I suppose that I really do not understand what "local" means - where you are or where the phone is listed? Thanks.

here is a link to a grid showing area codes that are local calls - note this grid is at Aug 08

In addition to the grid Okanagan linked-to consider those who want to call you on other than SO phones. For example it's long distance from Markham to Mississauga even though both communities are in the GTA. However calls from Markham to 416 are local. So you may prefer to keep your 416 number in part as a courtesy to those who call you on it. And of course, the fewer times you change your number the fewer hassles you and your callers will have in remembering it.
