Currently I have a PetroCan Nokia 1112B with SIM. Can I use this phone with a SO SIM? Do I need to unlock the phone?

I am thinking of switching to SO, and looking to spend as little as possible in not having to buy a new phone etc.

I am new to all this, so please excuse my ignorance.
