I am currently a Fido pay as you go customer. Recently I lost the SIM card along with the phone. Now I'm thinking about switching to SO. I do have another unlocked GSM phone. I can either buy a SO SIM card from someone on the board (with or without an assigned number) or from 7-11 directly (SIM + phone). My question is: would I be able to port my old Fido number to SO? E.g. do I need any information on the actual Fido SIM card in order to do the porting? I am the legal owner the Fido SIM (obviously), but I am just afraid someone might have picked up my lost SIM card and uses it. I do have the PIN for my Fido account which no one else should know. I appreciate any help. Thanks.

I did a port to Speakout from FIDO. All Speakout needed was some info that was on my FIDO web account. If you have a FIDO phone bill, that works also.

But I don't have the bill, because I'm on pay as you go. Do you know what specific info SO would need, apart from the phone number?

Call Speakout customer service at (866) 310-1023 and ask what information they need to port from Fido's pay as you go service. Far better than us trying to guess for you. 🙂

Thanks. Just to follow up. SO simply needs the 9-digit account number and 4-digit password. I was told that the porting should take less than 3 days.
