I just purchased a new SO phone and I had entered my sim security password incorrect 4 times. I called the SO rep for the correct password and was told it was good I called because my sim card would have been scrambled if I had entered the password incorrect 5 times. Now I have entered the correct password does my 4 incorrect attempts reset back to 0 or do I have to enter the password correct every time going foreword? The SO rep could not answer this for me.

Thanks

I would think if the SO rep couldn't answer you, then no one here could. We are definitely not a replacement for SO customer service, not even close, as we are all just customers like yourself.

Personally, I never play around with the sim card security settings. You are just bound for problems.

Bud, you have thought wrong for sure. Many posts provide answers to questions SO reps don't know the answer to. Have you read all the poor customer service topics in the forum? This forum is a replacement for customer service in many ways. I suggest you try the search functionality.

I am just another customer asking other customers if they have had similar problems. Many customers like myself are very tech savvy and have had numerous cellular devices and service providers as regular customers. Very good chance other regular customers or "Elite customer in your case" has read, herd of, or had this question at some point in time.

I like to live life in the fast land dabbling around with sim card security settings. I also went outside today with out my gloves, went 110km/hr on thei highway to work and ate lunch at the table with my hat on.

Well that was interesting...

I'd say Ian is right in that I'd be surprised if that's the kind of question somebody here would *know*. That said, I'd *guess* that the counter gets reset. If you look at it from the point of view of whoever designs the card, I don't think there would be a point to not reset the count.

I have to disagree with a few of your points. Firstly, as I said earlier, this forum is never a replacement for official SpeakOut customer service. Their word is the final word. After all, we are are all just customers of the service. We might enhance what they say, but we are definitely not a replacement, and especially not over and above them. Not even close. If you have account specific questions, do any of the members here have a toll-free number you can call to get things straightened out? No, they don't.

Just like if your bank was CIBC, and you had problems doing your banking, would you call or visit CIBC, or talk to some stranger on the street about your banking problems, and give them all your financial details, hoping they could help you out? No, you would call CIBC directly.

That's all I'm going to say in this thread. Anymore would be a waste of time. I hope you and yours have a merry Christmas!
