Just a quick post to advise of a successful port from Bell Mobility to SO today. The SO Customer Service person was very personable and professional during the call yesterday, provided a ref # and indicated port would happen in 1-3 business days - needed the Bell Acct # & the IMEI # located under the battery in the Bell cell.
Within 24 hrs of call, rec'd text from SO indicating port successful. When tested phone, it worked fine - also strange to say, both phones work and I can place calls from both of them with call display on landline showing them each having the ported out number. When calling ported number only SO phone works. Hmm..wonder how long both will work - its at least 4-5 hours since port. Anyways, just nice to be rid of 3 yr. contract where paid way too much in relation to what I needed phone for. Speakout is great and will serve my needs for the foreseeable future.

Welcome to SO. That was also the case when I ported a couple of BM numbers to SO a year and half ago. I don't recall how long the BM phone remained active but it wasn't more than a day or two. It probably takes that long to propagate out to databases from coast to coast to coast.

The official term for both working is called "Dual Service".
Well my "dual service" has now become "Singular service(Canada style)" - so much for that - however, when u now dial any number from the old Bell cell, you get Telus Customer Service?? Maybe an insight into Bell's future plans? 🙂

In western Canada, Bell piggybacks off of Telus, since Telus in the predominant carrier, and Telus piggybacks off of Bell in eastern Canada, since Bell is more predominant there.
