I have an old nokia that I've been using as phone only for the last 4-5 years and just got a new Samsung S6 - I still have 3 months prepaid with Speakout - can I take the Sim card out of the Nokia and put it in the S6? I have the code to unlock the S6 - do I unlock it before putting in the new Sim card or after

Your first problem is that your old sim card from the Nokia is probably the wrong size for the Samsung. A small cell phone shop will be able to cut it for you (but you will need an adapter in order to put it back in the Nokia, if you ever want to).

As soon as you put the sim card into the Samsung and turn on the phone, a window will appear asking you to enter the unlock code. As you apparently already have it, just enter the numbers and it's done. (If, by chance, your Samsung is locked to Rogers, then the sim will work without an unlock code.)

Just as 46jimbo suggested, you can get your SIM card cut, or you can buy a SIM card from SpeakOut, and get your account transferred to the new SIM. Your Samsung S6 takes a nano size SIM card, available here:

Thanks guys, the phone is locked to MTS (Manitoba Telecom) and they did provide the unlock code for me. I guess I'll have to find the right size SIM.

I'm done with Speakout so I'm just going to let the account run out then activate the S6 elsewhere. Was in Winnipeg last week for a funeral, my value plan ran out of minutes and rather than let me start a new value plan like they used to, Speakout charged me by the minute until the end of the month then renewed the plan - cost me more to use the phone in that last week than the cost of the monthly value plan.

Not sure when they changed their policy but used to be if I ran out of minutes I could cancel the plan and just start another in essence resetting the start date for the 200 minutes. Called customer service as the 200 minutes is usually enough for me but with the funeral of course I was using the phone more - they wouldn't budge so I'm done with them :(

You probably should avoid Rogers then because they are probably behind that.sf-wink_gif
