Im wondering if anyone uses the unlimited browsing to view non english websites as i have tried some of the chinese websites some can load just fine but most of them are not working ?encoding problem?but if i use wifi everything is okay
I would guess the Rogers proxy is to blame. Hopefully the site can also be used via HTTPS also, that tends to work better

iPhone 3gs:
Anybody's push email suddenly stop working on 3g? My gmail and hotmail were working great on both wifi and 3g, and now I don't get notifications on 3g. Wifi still works ok.
If I open mail and it checks manually, then I get the emails. I've tried rebooting, turning cell data on and off etc.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

No more talk about tethering. It is against the rules on the official SpeakOut site, and against the rules of this site.
I recommend to everyone (especially to those who are new to the site) to read the "Terms" page on the official site, as well as the rules on this site:
https://www.speakoutwireless.ca/speak/announcements/rules-and-etiquette/
The rules are there for a reason. You should read and fully understand the rules on the official site as well as this site before posting.
This will be your only warning.
Thanks

Hey guys,
I am using TuneIn Radio over SpeakOut 3G right now to stream a radio station from San Francisco. I haven't had any problems with it:

YouTube isn't blocked. However, there is a limitation on downloads (something like 1mb) which affects youtube. When you try to play a youtube video, your iphone actually downloads a portion of that video, then streams the rest. If you select a video of less than 2 minutes in length, the initial download is less than 1mb and the video will play fine. Anything longer and the initial download will be greater than 1mb and the video will fail. Youtube is definitely not blocked though.

Some radio stations used to stream their broadcasts from a website over port 80, and these rare instances will probably work okay with Speakout. The vast majority of streaming broadcast are not on port 80, and unfortunately wont work on Speakout.

I never heard of the 1MB rule with regards to YouTube and Speakout/Rogers. I'm able to access YouTube just fine, and I have watched a few things. I'm not that big into YouTube.
If you guys are having problems with YouTube, try accessing it through port 443. Port 80 is throttled by Rogers, but 443 isn't. I know anything I access through 80 feels sluggish at times.
You can just sub http with https for youtube.com and it'll go through 443 instead of 80. Not sure if you are using a particular YouTube application.

so if i subscribe to this unlimited browsing, all i have to do is make sure that my prepaid balance is above $10 each month and it's deducted? and i can subscribe/cancel anytime?
anyone know if this will this work with an unlocked blackberry storm?
Yes, it costs $10 per month. Keep in mind that also $1.25 per month is deducted for the 911 fee.
As for your second question, it might be better asking it in the "Phone/Device Specific Issues" forum.

There's no cell service for Speakout in the states, so I doubt that browsing will work. No idea on sims...

Anyone know if browsing will work across the border, throughout the US? Or if not, what a good pay as you go sim might be to use with an iphone for a month while I am there? Thanks.

Hmmm...I just picked up my new Samsung Galaxy Captivate android and all that will work so far is the phone and SMS. I didn't notice if it showed 3G or EDGE, but I'm really hoping that I can get that fixed our I'm out a whole whack of cash for nothing!
Just wondering who else is using this service with an android phone
Unlike someone else who claimed to have the 3g speed I can only have the edge speedAlso besides the default browser I cant seem to get any apps working are there any good apps work with the unlimited browsing?
