I just set up the voice mail and found out I have the same problem as this person:
"When I hold the 1 button the first time, it poped up a text box asking me to enter the voice number, I have thought it is the passcode, so I entered it. then the phone was trying to call the number I just entered, and said the number cannot be connected and handed off. If I try to hold 1 button again, it automatically calls the number I entered before, and failed. So I am screwed. However I can accesss the voice mail from landline without problem, but still consider it would be handy to just able to access voice mail through SO phone itself."
This person was unable to solve the problem until someone told him the voice mail number for his city. Is this the only way (and does anyone know the number)? I tried *#61# but it gave me a Toronto number that is not my voicemail.

Ok, I just tried the number from *#61#, but it asks me if I want to leave a message for the cell phone I am calling!
I do not think this is how the voicemail is supposed to work. From a landline, I can call my cell phone, press #, and check my voicemail, but the number given by *#61# number does not seem to follow this process.
What do I need to enter into my phone in order to get it to access my own voice mail when I press and hold 1?

Dialing my own number from the phone previously lead to the same dialog where it asked me if I wanted to leave someone a voice message.
I'll try the other solutions but right now whenever I try to dial it calls the number and then gives me 3 short tones and nothing happens.
PUsh the # key... it will ask for the password viola
