I'm having trouble using my Voicemail. Basically, every time I try to call myself from my SO phone I get three beeps and then the call ends. I bought the phone specifically for messaging, so I really don't use the voice features at all. But I keep getting telemarketers leaving messages, and I can't actually go in and delete them unless I call from another phone. This problem has been happening literally since the day that I got the phone. I wasn't even able to do the initial voicemail set up from it - I had to call from a landline instead.

Has anyone else had this issue?

zinger,
To access your voice mail using your SO phone *DONT* call your own phone number. Instead you can press and hold "1" which usually is linked to SO voice mail phone number. Otherwise you need to call 611 and ask for the voice mail phone number.

I see! I have been pressing 1, the problem is that that automatically dials my own phone number. So does anyone know the voicemail number for Ottawa? The number posted above appears to be for the Toronto area.

So does anyone know the voicemail number for Ottawa?

The FAQ knows. Hint: 15a.

Okay, I found the Ottawa number. (If anyone else is looking it is 613-421-6245.) But the FAQ also says that I should be able to call my own number from my cell phone - which is consistent with every other cell service I've ever had, and is what I was trying to do in the first place.

So is that part of the FAQ wrong?

It seems to work for most people most of the time, although there have been a few posts that reported otherwise. Perhaps there's some other setting that's needed and/or it's a characteristic of certain phone models.

(I never call my own number from my SO phone in order to get voicemail so I don't know if it works for me. I always call from a landline because that's free.)
